Overview Trail Map.

Race Details
The YooperBeiner is a cross-country fun event, held on March 3, 2012 at 10AM. There are four choices: YooperBeiner, YooperLooper, HeinerBeiner, BitsiBeiner. They are approximately 20k, 10k, 6.6k, and 2.2k (ideal for the kids or casual skiers). The location is at Wolverine Ski Trails a few miles from Ironwood, Michigan. No pre-registration is required, and the cost is simply a suitable (i.e. generous) donation to help the local ski club to maintain the trails. If you register online or via email by February 21st, you will receive a race t-shirt! We suggest a $25 donation, if you would like a shirt.

Finding Wolverine
First, find Ironwood, Michigan. It's in the far west of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Travel east a mile or so on U.S. 2, and turn left onto Section 12 road. Go north about a mile, then turn right onto Sunset road. At the end of the road, make a right turn into the chalet parking lot.

Terrain
All trails for the YooperBeiner are groomed for both classic and skating. The trails are wide and allow skiers to explore the rugged, forested U.P. highlands. The trails are not crowded and you’ll experience solitude, scenic overlooks, and deep forest wilderness.

The 2.2k/6.6k loop is relatively flat and elevation changes are gentle. The other loops are more challenging, climbing higher into the hills and descending through upland hardwood and conifer forest.
